Dear Jamie and Andrew,
It’s about 15 months now since your team at Diesel Care Toowoomba fitted my Steinbauer tuning module to my Toyota 200 series Landcruiser. To cut to the chase, I am rapt with the improved performance it has given me, across all uses.
The Steinbauer Power Module provides some serious extra performance. Apart from the general improved responsiveness in around town and highway usage, I am delighted with the better towing experience now. The 200 is no slouch in standard trim, but there were times I thought it lacked the zing it should have been capable of, especially when compared to the petrol models.
I did a fair bit of research before I contacted your company and while there are cheaper alternatives out there, the way the Steinbauer Power Module works seems a whole lot more researched and not just a quick-trick solution. Basically it makes sense that unless the throttle sensor detects you are looking for more power, it behaves just like a standard 200. But more power is instantly on tap if and when you need it.
I’m not the rev-head I was when younger, but I still like performance. That’s the reason it took a vehicle like the 200 to get me into a diesel in the first place and more recently to look at performance modules. Since fitting the Steinbauer, there have been occasions when I’ve used the available power just for the fun of it and there have been a few drivers of other cars more than a little surprised at the Landcruiser’s ability to accelerate. No need to exceed the speed limits; the satisfaction is achieved by the time we reach them… Very happy!
Away from work, I regularly tow a 2.7t off road van and this is when the improvement is most noticeable. Since fitting the Steinbauer Power module, most of the time you barely notice the van’s there. With about 20% more power and 15% more torque, hills have far less impact on holding speed and it seems to reduce the transmission down shifting too. On a recent trip down the northern rivers of NSW, we were just cruising through the hilly bits, but my friend with a similar sized van told me he had trouble trying to hold on to us.
The best part is that as the 200 has run in, it's just got even better and more tractable. It's such a pleasure to drive. Around town and stop start, I'm getting around 13.5 l/100km, more when I use the loud pedal too much, bear in mind I mostly use off-road tyres and with my fitted accessories, my 200 weighs nearly 3,300kg all the time! It’s towing where there’s been a big improvement. Whereas before you fitted my module, I used to get around 18-19 l/100km and worse in hilly country, I now see 16-17 l/100km most of the time, regardless of terrain. And that is towing at or near the speed limits. The worst I've got though is only 21 but that was when there was a range climb and driving into a headwind all day. Both my previous tow vehicles could not get better than 25-28 l/100km towing the same van. They were petrol though. But none would come near my Steinbauer powered 200 for sheer comfortable towing and cruising.
Because I also sell premium products that have cheaper competition, I understand that not everyone sees the value in spending a little extra to get a result. But as we get many letters and emails from satisfied customers I thought I should let you know how pleased I am with my Steinbauer module. Fitting a chip is not just about price and fuel economy. It’s about much more than that and given the cost of vehicles, especially ones like the 200 Series, it’s important that owners consider longevity, reliability, function and the whole package.
Best regards,

We specialise in mechanical repairs for Cummins engines and Twin Disc transmissions throughout Northern NSW and Southern Queensland, from Moree to Toowoomba. To give my customers the best service, especially working in regional and remote locations, it’s important to have a good working relationship with people who really know diesel fuel injection. I have a long-standing association with Diesel Care, having dealt with the business in Goondiwindi for 15 years and with technician Bob Jones. Bob and I first worked together at Cummins Diesel in Sydney more than 25 years ago. Diesel Care works alongside my business as a 'partner.' I couldn't be happier with the service.
