To the manager,

Thank-you for one of the best purchase experiences I have had for a long time!

Last week I rang your general number and asked for advice on fuel filtration for my new BT50. Friendly, respectful, very helpful and honest response! I ordered a kit at that time to be picked up.

Yesterday I picked the kit up at the Toowoomba branch and the service was even better! After getting comprehensive answers to all my questions and lots more, I left having a much better understanding of the system and confident the install would be straight forward enough.

This morning I installed the filter kit and the service again was excellent! Not any issues with the detailed instructions and the install went perfectly.

Once again thank-you for the service and congratulations on leading such a great team.

Dear Gavin,

I'm glad I signed up with you at the Sydney caravan & leisure show, as my Steinbauer module has now been fitted to our NS Pajero and I'm well pleased with the results!

Altogether a much better driving experience, both with and without the van on the back. There is more performance and response all through the rev range and for the first time, the engine is in charge of the gearbox and not the other way around.

We were treated like royalty by Steve at Canobolas Diesel and Turbo in Orange and the installation of the Steinbauer was done very professionally.

Hervey Bay, QLD.

In July 2012 my wife and I set out on a touring holiday around Australia, not just any holiday one that would see us do as much off the black top as possible. After leaving home in Hervey Bay we headed south to Jimboomba to our daughters place as we had arranged for a Beaudesert Exhaust system to be fitted along with a Steinbauer Module to be fitted at Diesel Care Toowoomba the following day to our 100 Series IFS 4.2TD Landcruiser.

IMG 4827 - Laurie and Helen - 100 Series IFS 4.2TD Landcruiser

I must admit I was skeptical about the claims made about increased fuel economy and performance by both companies, but I had done my research and considered the two systems I had chosen to have installed were in my opinion the most likely to provide results that I would be satisfied with.

We tow a KEDRON Top Ender which when set up for our trip weighed in at just under 3500 kg. Nearly all the dirt driving IMG 2875- Laurie and Helen - 100 Series IFS 4.2TD Landcruiserhad tire pressures on both the car and van between 16 and 25 psi which doesn't help the fuel economy either.

In order to compare the new with the old we used the records from our 2011 trip which covered Darwin and part of the Savannah Way including areas like the Reynolds River Track and Kingfisher Camp. On this trip we covered 9,715 km, consumed 2,248.4 litres of fuel and averaged 23.14 l / 100 km. I had IMG 4639 - Laurie and Helen - 100 Series IFS 4.2TD Landcruisercarried out suspension upgrades but the engine and exhaust were standard on this trip.

After leaving Toowoomba we headed to Birdsville than took the most direct route to Karumba, which included going through Duchess and Lake Julius.  We than headed up the Savannah Way to Lorella Springs where after I fixed the turbo which had vibrated loose, we did all the available 4WD tracks with the exception of Rosies Creek fishing camp before heading to Darwin. From Darwin it was off to Wyndham where we did the first part of the trip that Graham Cahill did down around the King River than off to the the Gibb River Road, calling into El Questro where we met up with the C&M magazine crew did all the available 4WD tracks and headed for Home Valley Station to do some more exploring including the Salmon River track. Our time on the GRR was shorter  than we would have liked due to a cracked refrigeration gas line but that happens. Our next test for the new systems was heading up the Cape Leveque road to Middle Lagoon, after you turn off the main road it was 33 km of sand track in which required all the power available at times pulling the van through.

The next area requiring consideration with the van was getting into Red Bluff which is located some 70 km north of Quobba blowholes on Quobba Station. We than headed south to Hamelin Pools where we left the van and headed for Steep Point and it is as challenging in areas as they say, especially when travelling by ourselves. After leaving here the trip was some what mild until we headed into the North Gawler Ranges and up to Lake Gairdner in SA. We finished up by doing the Darling River run from Wilcannia to Bourke.

On this trip we covered 25,025 km, consumed 4,937.94 litres of fuel and averaged 19.73 l / 100 km at an average cost of $1.66 / litre for the trip.

You can see some of the areas we covered on our blog, but I haven't quite finished it yet only up to Steep Point at the moment.

In closing I would like to say that I was very pleased with the service at both facilities and overall result of the systems installed, the increased power was evident on several occasions and I am under no illusions that it was the difference between a pleasant days drive and one you don't want to remember on more than one occasion.

Kialla, Victoria.

Hi Gavin,
We have communicated before, but not since a Steinbauer was fitted to my 2006 Hyundai Terracan 2.9 CRDi, Automatic, on 14.3.12 by Shepparton 4 Wheel Drive Centre. I live in Kialla.

The engine was responsive from day one. Normal running around Shepparton, without any long trips between fills, I average around 9.0 l/100 km. With long trips mixed in I use around 8.5 l/100 km.

I have recently returned from towing my van to Yeppoon, return trip 3700 km. up the Newell and Leichhardt Highways. The van weighs 2.36 tonne, excluding tow ball (200kg). These are actual weighbridge weights. I tow on the flat around 95 km/hr by the GPS, which best suits the rev./torque range. Obviously, climbing hills slows the speed, although I do exceed 95 downhill if the road surface is OK and the going is clear. I tow in Overdrive all the time and never fiddle with the gears. I let the Auto make up its own mind.

I have found that the Steinbauer allows the Auto to stay in Overdrive longer on an incline, and allows it to change up quicker than before.

Overall towing I averaged 16.3 l/100km, which I am quite satisfied with. I averaged the same with my previous van which was 200kg lighter, and shorter.

People in the various caravan parks who towed similar loads with different vehicles were impressed with the fuel economy of the Terracan. Most were not able to match it. Those who did tow at much slower speeds. Naturally, wind is a huge factor.

Hi guys
Just a follow up on this module i got off you about a month ago, for my 2012 hilux, very happy with the results, I tried a DP chip before that and was very disappointed with it, lots of injector rattle, black smoke and very little power gain. This chip has given it some badly needed low down torque and better acceleration, and fuel economy seems no worse, maybe slightly better, went to Straddie the other weekend and did 740kms before the low fuel light came on, that was mostly highway, probably 150kms around town and about ½hr low range in soft sand. (8.72L/100km)

Thanks.

Hi Gavin, this email is just some feedback for the power pedal for my Landcruiser 200 which I purchased from you recently at the Camping/Caravan show at Rosehill. After fitting I did find some minimal pedal responsivness, but there is still a delay under quick acceleration. I also checked some data using my scantool and found before and after accelerator pedal sensor voltages vary slightly. I am happy with difference it has made and will contact you in the future regarding ECU unit upgrade for my vehicle.

Thankyou!

Dear Jamie and Andrew,

It’s about 15 months now since your team at Diesel Care Toowoomba fitted my Steinbauer tuning module to my Toyota 200 series Landcruiser. To cut to the chase, I am rapt with the improved performance it has given me, across all uses.

The Steinbauer Power Module provides some serious extra performance. Apart from the general improved responsiveness in around town and highway usage, I am delighted with the better towing experience now. The 200 is no slouch in standard trim, but there were times I thought it lacked the zing it should have been capable of, especially when compared to the petrol models.

I did a fair bit of research before I contacted your company and while there are cheaper alternatives out there, the way the Steinbauer Power Module works seems a whole lot more researched and not just a quick-trick solution. Basically it makes sense that unless the throttle sensor detects you are looking for more power, it behaves just like a standard 200. But more power is instantly on tap if and when you need it.

I’m not the rev-head I was when younger, but I still like performance. That’s the reason it took a vehicle like the 200 to get me into a diesel in the first place and more recently to look at performance modules. Since fitting the Steinbauer, there have been occasions when I’ve used the available power just for the fun of it and there have been a few drivers of other cars more than a little surprised at the Landcruiser’s ability to accelerate. No need to exceed the speed limits; the satisfaction is achieved by the time we reach them… Very happy!

Away from work, I regularly tow a 2.7t off road van and this is when the improvement is most noticeable. Since fitting the Steinbauer Power module, most of the time you barely notice the van’s there. With about 20% more power and 15% more torque, hills have far less impact on holding speed and it seems to reduce the transmission down shifting too. On a recent trip down the northern rivers of NSW, we were just cruising through the hilly bits, but my friend with a similar sized van told me he had trouble trying to hold on to us.

The best part is that as the 200 has run in, it's just got even better and more tractable. It's such a pleasure to drive. Around town and stop start, I'm getting around 13.5 l/100km, more when I use the loud pedal too much, bear in mind I mostly use off-road tyres and with my fitted accessories, my 200 weighs nearly 3,300kg all the time! It’s towing where there’s been a big improvement. Whereas before you fitted my module, I used to get around 18-19 l/100km and worse in hilly country, I now see 16-17 l/100km most of the time, regardless of terrain. And that is towing at or near the speed limits. The worst I've got though is only 21 but that was when there was a range climb and driving into a headwind all day. Both my previous tow vehicles could not get better than 25-28 l/100km towing the same van. They were petrol though. But none would come near my Steinbauer powered 200 for sheer comfortable towing and cruising.

Because I also sell premium products that have cheaper competition, I understand that not everyone sees the value in spending a little extra to get a result. But as we get many letters and emails from satisfied customers I thought I should let you know how pleased I am with my Steinbauer module. Fitting a chip is not just about price and fuel economy. It’s about much more than that and given the cost of vehicles, especially ones like the 200 Series, it’s important that owners consider longevity, reliability, function and the whole package.

Best regards,
